  • What objects, trees, vegetation, or art objects do you want to light up?

  • What ambience/mood of lighting do you desire?

  • How important is view from the street? From inside your home?

  • What are your specific needs or preferences, security needs, zoning preferences, phases and budgets?

With this information in mind, we can measure up and create the perfect lighting plan with all the proper fixtures, bulbs, and effects needed to illuminate your property.

Design

It is essential to fine tune aspects of lighting such as, lighting rhythm, creating equal amounts of light and dark, illuminating focal points in the landscape, buildings, property, and balancing light with dark, light with light, and dark with dark for example. Sometimes in landscape lighting “Less is More” where darkness flanks lit areas and can contribute more effect to lit areas.

There are many techniques used to create light but only one right way to light up your property the way you want it. By exploring options such as pathway lighting, spread lighting, down lighting, up lighting, accent lighting, cross lighting, and various lighting techniques, we work closely with the homeowner on site to create, modify, and perfect their landscape lighting experience.

Install

After we have a plan constructed and it is time to place fixtures, bury wire, connect the transformer to your power source and make your landscape lighting dreams come to life.

Some typical installation procedures would be:

  • Call for locations of underground utilities lines before we start to dig.

  • Mount transformer keeping it low visibility and easy access for service.

  • Set up a switch or controller where you can control your lights.

  • Install fixtures and bulbs, connect wires to transformers, ensure all connections are tight, and bury the wire (We prefer to use stainless steel hardware if fastening to live branches. This prevents metal poisoning to living trees)

Once the job is complete, we clean up the site and come back at dusk to perform an after-installation system test to evaluate and fine tune the lighting system. The after-installation system test includes:

  • Check voltage at the last fixture.

  • Check that the wires in transformer terminal blocks are tight.

  • Address voltage or connectivity problems if any arise.

  • Check to make sure you didn’t cut through irrigation, communications, or other subsurface components.

  • Evaluate how the light effects, casts shadows, etc…Does it give too much or too little light? Is it aimed right? Are the effects pleasing?

  • Adjust lighting fixtures and accessories if needed. Sometimes repositioning fixtures, re-aiming, or re-lamping can make a major difference.

  • Present the finished product to you, the customer.

Warranty

We guarantee our workmanship by offering a 1-year warranty on all new lighting installs and providing free service during the first year of operation. All our new lighting installs are backed by 5-year warranty on all fixtures and transformers used during the installation.
